Slight growth at Rotterdam port

The port of Rotterdam showed an increase in turnover of 1% in the first half of 2011 compared with 11.1% in the year earlier period, reports NOS news on Wednesday.

Unrefined oil saw an 8% drop, mainly because of lower demand from the US and China. Turnover in container traffic rose 12%.
In a statement, CEO Hans Smits warned that continuing turmoil on the financial markets could affect full year profits, but he is still expecting slight growth for 2011.
