A serious accident on the A1 towards Amsterdam at junction Hoevelaken left three people trapped and two lanes of the motorway closed on Monday morning.

The accident, which happened in thick mist, involved a lorry carrying chickens and seven cars. Two of the trapped people have been released. One, a child, was badly hurt and taken to hospital.
Police are advising motorists heading for Amsterdam or Utrecht to go via Ede on the A30.
