New pin system ‘problematic’
The new direct debit card system, which involves inserting the card in a reader rather than swiping it, is proving problematic for some retailers and customers, the Telegraaf reports on Wednesday.
Shopkeepers are complaining paying by the new system takes longer, and customers often forget to remove their card, leading to further delays.
In addition, foreign bank cards often do not have the chip, making it impossible for tourists to use them, the paper said.
