Mladic undergoes hernia operation

Former Bosnian Serb general Ratko Mladic, who is on trial in The Hague on charges of genocide and war crimes, underwent a hernia operation on Wednesday.

He was admitted to the Bronovo hospital in The Hague on Wednesday evening and is now recovering, according to press reports. The hospital has not said when he will be discharged.
On Wednesday, Serge Brammertz, chief prosecutor at the Yugoslav tribunal, said the case against Mladic should be split into two to speed up the process. He wants to avoid the situation with Serbian president Slobodan Milosevic who died before his trial ended.
