ING lowers pin limit for youngsters

ING bank is lowering the limit on the amount of money the under 18s can take out of their accounts on one day from €1,000 to €250.

The bank says the measure is necessary because an increasing number of youngsters are being used by criminals as ‘money mules’, reports the Volkskrant.
They lend out their pin pass for a small fee so criminals can launder the money gained from drug deals and other crimes.
Youngsters who lend their pass can be prosecuted for complicity in fraud and theft. They can also be banned from having a bank account for eight years, says the paper.
So far the police have dealt with over 5,000 ‘money mules’.
ABN Amro and the Rabobank already limit under 18s to €500 a day.
