HIgher prices and volumes boost Unilever
Anglo Dutch foot to detergents group Unilever booked a 4% increase in sales over the first six months of 2011, while net profit rose 9% to €2.4bn.
‘Volumes were robust and in line with the market, despite having taken price increases,’ said CEO Paul Polman in a statement.
‘Our emerging markets business continues to deliver double digit growth. Performance in Western Europe was also strong in the second quarter so that the half year results reflect the true progress we have been making.’
