Green groups go back to court over coal-fired power station

Environmental groups Greenpeace and Natuur & Milieu are going to court in an effort to force Groningen province to halt building on a new coal-fired power station in Eemshaven.

Last week, the country´s highest court, the Council of State, tore up planning permission for the RWE/Essent plant, but Groningen has refused to stop the building.
The provincial council says the court’s objections to the multi million euro project can be easily solved and it expects planning permission will be approved.
According to Trouw, the injunction will probably be heard this week.
