Essent plant goes ahead
The construction of the coal-fired power plant in the Eemshaven will continue, Groningen provincial government said on Friday afternoon.
The environmental licence for the plant was revoked on Wednesday by the Council of State.
Many of the objections raised by the Council can be repaired so a new request for a licence will be accepted, the provincial government told the press.
Environmentalists reacted by submitting an enforcement notice to the provincial government, demanding an immediate stop to construction.
