World championship gold in 50 metres butterfly for Inge Dekker

Inge Dekker on Saturday took the gold medal in the 50-metres butterfly at the world swimming championships in Shanghai, beating the Swedish favourite Therese Alshammar.


Dekker was also part of the 4×100 relay free-style team, which took gold earlier in the week.
Sharon van Rouwendaal, a 17-year-old taking part in her first world championships final, took bronze in the 200-metre back stroke, behind Americans Melissa Franklin and Belinda Hocking.
