Urk ministers oppose ‘anti-Bible’ rock concert

Twelve ministers from the fishing village of Urk have written an open letter to the local council protesting at plans to hold a rock festival on the former island next weekend.

The letter says that rock music contradicts Biblical norms and values. ‘ Let us not give the devil the opportunity to lure away our youngsters,’ the ministers state.
A spokesman for the town council told news agency ANP that while the local authority understood the ministers’ position, the concert would go ahead as planned.
Urk is strongly religious and is reported to have 19 different Protestant churches. Earlier, ministers called for a ban on celebrating Halloween.
