Philips to buy Chinese kitchen equipment manufacturer

Electronics giant Philips announced on Monday it is buying the Chinese kitchen equipment maker Povos. No financial details were given.

Povos manufacturers rice boilers, induction equipment and kettles used throughout China. It is located in Shanghai and has 1,800 employees.
The takeover, due to be finalised in the autumn, will strengthen Philips’ position in one of the most important growth markets, the company said.
Earlier this year, Philips bought Indian kitchen equipment maker Preethi.
