Most shoplifters are adults, one in 11 are over 55

Almost 10% of shoplifters in the Netherlands are over the age of 55 and 75% are adult, according to research from the retail association’s crime unit.

This belies the myth that most shoplifters are teenagers, spokesman Sander van de Golberdinge told news agency ANP.
While most shoplifters are male, young girls dominate the teenage crime figures.
Last year over 33,000 people were picked up for shoplifting.
