A member of the Limburg provincial council who represents the anti-Islam PVV has left the party but will continue as an independent councillor.

Harm Uringa has refused to go into details about why he has quit, but sources told Nos television he is unhappy with the leadership style of local PVV chief Laurence Stassen and the populist tone used by his fellow councillors.
Uringa’s decision means the CDA is now the biggest party in the province with 10 seats. The PVV has nine. The PVV emerged as the biggest party in the province after the March elections with over 20% of the vote.
It took the lead in working out a coalition with the CDA and VVD. The coalition still controls 27 of the 47 provincial seats.
