Health minister cuts psychiatric fee for second time
Health minister Edith Schippers has reduced the fee she plans to introduce for psychiatric visits for a second time.
The minister is now planning to bring in a fee of €200 a year for psychiatric treatment following protests from MPs.
The minister originally said the fee would be €295 a year but cut that to €275 after MPs said people with mental health problems were being unfairly treated.
The minister also said that treatment for the under-18s and residential stays would be fully covered in the basic health insurance package.
