Chemie-Pack suspects free again

The director of chemicals packaging company Chemie-Pack and two other men who were re-arrested on Sunday were released by a court in Breda on Monday, reports news agency ANP.

The three men were re-arrested on suspicion of starting the massive fire at the plant in January by reckless behaviour.
They had originally been picked up earlier in the week on charges relating to the deliberate storage and processing of large amounts of dangerous chemicals without proper environmental licences.
According to the public prosecution office, the fire was probably started when a pump being used to move dangerous substances iced up and was thawed out with a gas burner, says ANP.
The public prosecutor, who suspects this had been done before, is now considering what further steps to take.
