Charitable contributions grew by 4% last year
The amount given to the country’s 25 biggest charities rose by 4% to over €700m last year, according to the annual Volkskrant survey of charitable donations.
Cancer research charity KWF Kankerbestrijding raised the most money – €102m, almost twice as much as the number two on the list, Unicef.
Development charity Cordaid, down nearly 18%, and animal protection group Dierenbescherming, down nearly 17%, were the biggest losers, the paper said.
Earlier this week, the Wall Street Journal said the Dutch are the most generous charitable donors in Europe.
