Rise in reports of wrong-doing in the armed forces
The number of reports of fraud, corruption, conflict of interest and abuse in the armed forces rose from 113 in 2009 to 168 in 2010, the defence ministry announced on Friday.
Of the 168 reported cases, 156 were investigated of which 107 were proven, reports the Algemeen Dagblad.
The data does not cover bullying, discrimination, aggression or intimidation, for which the figures are not yet known. In 2009, 881 cases of these sort were reported.
‘The rise in cases can be attributed to more people reporting problems rather than more wrong-doing,’ a defence spokesman told the paper.
