Parents accused of selling eight-year-old daughter for sex
The parents of an eight-year-old girl who offered their daughter for sex in return for money via the internet have been arrested and the girl taken into care, the public prosecution department confirmed on Thursday.
The parents, aged 44 and 43, have been in custody for four weeks as the investigation into the case continues, the paper says. A 32-year-old man who offered to buy the child was arrested on Wednesday.
Investigators were tipped off by a family member who found ‘worrying’ email traffic on a computer he borrowed.
The family comes from Hardinxveld-Giessendam, a small town of 17,000 people south east of Rotterdam.
