Opta boss to head new super watchdog
The current head of telecoms watchdog Opta is to head the new super regulator being formed with the merger of Opta, the competition body NMa and the consumer authority Consumentenautoriteit.
Chris Fontijn is currently chair of the European telecom regulatory umbrella group Berec and has headed Opta since 2005.
Economic affairs minister Maxime Verhagen said earlier the merger of the three watchdogs would save 9% on their combined budgets.
The new organisation will come into being in 2013.
