MPs back extension of Libya mission

MPs on Thursday approved a three-month extension to Dutch participation in the Nato campaign in Libya.

The mission began at the end of March with the aim of protecting opponents of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi.
The Netherlands currently has six F-16 fighter jets and a minesweeper in the region, monitoring the no fly zone and weapons embargo. But ministers are not in favour of allowing the Dutch jets to take part in bombing raids.
