Local councils are slow payers

Some 80% of local councils fail to pay their bills within the required 30 days, according to research by small firms association MKB Nederland.


The town council in Borne, in Overijssel province, is the fastest payer, taking just 17 days on average to clear a bill.
Slowest is Appingedam in Groningen, which takes 87 days.
Amsterdam is the fastest of the big cities, taking an average 35 days to pay its bills.
