Inflation rises to 2.3%
The annual inflation rate rose to 2.3% in May, its highest level in 2.5 years, the national statistics office CBS said on Thursday.
Inflation was driven up by higher energy prices, plane tickets and food, especially fresh vegetables, the CBS said.
Calculated according to EU guidelines, inflation is 2.4% compared with a European average of 2.7%.
The CBS also said on Thursday that industrial turnover rose 13% in April, largely due to higher prices.
