An Australian man who jumped out of a hotel room after smoking cannabis and landed on a Brazilian tourist, breaking his back, has been jailed for three months by a court in Amsterdam, news agency ANP reports.

Abdallah O has also been ordered to pay his victim €120,000 in compensation. The Brazilian has been confined to a wheelchair for the rest of his life.
The court agreed with O’s lawyer that he was suffering from psychosis brought on by smoking cannabis and was trying to escape from his hallucinations when he jumped.
Nevertheless, it is important that dangerous behaviour under the influence of drugs should also be punished with a prison sentence, the court said.
