The heavy storm which hit more southerly parts of the Netherlands on Tuesday night caused some localised damage, particularly around Boxmeer and Vught, the Telegraaf reports.

The towns were battered by winds of up to 80 kph, hail and hundreds of lightning strikes, bringing down trees, causing localised flooding and disrupting traffic.
Trees on the railway track between the two towns halted train services to the south of the country. Dutch Rail has warned that train services may still not be back to normal on Wednesday morning.
