Edgar Davids to join Ajax board
Former international Edgar Davids is one of five names lined up to join the supervisory board at Amsterdam football club Ajax, the Telegraaf reports.
Davids, who has 74 caps for the Netherlands, joins Johan Cruijff, Steven ten Have, Marjan Olfers and Paul Romer on the candidate list.
Steven ten Have is a professor of strategy at Amsterdam’s VU university and tipped as new board chairman. Romer is head of public broadcasting group NTR and Olfers is a lawyer specialising in sport and government regulation.
Ajax’s management and supervisory board and general director are all standing down after refusing to implement a plan to improve technical standards at the club drawn up by Cruijf, who has been very critical of the club’s performance.
