Rich parents to pay more for childcare
Parents on a high income will find themselves paying more for childcare than those on lower incomes, social affairs minister Henk Kamp told tv news programme Buitenhof on Sunday.
The cost of childcare will increase across the board but rich parents will pay most, he told the programme but did not give details.
Kamp also said state payouts for ‘guest parents’ will not change. These were only introduced a few years ago and the rules were tightened in 2010.
According to the central statistics agency CBS, 93,000 parents received a payment under the scheme in 2010.
The minister said he is pleased with the way market forces are beginning to work in childcare, praising the advantages and quality of large childcare centres.
