‘Outsider will get central bank job’

An outsider is set to replace central bank president Nout Wellink when he stands down on June 1, the Financieele Dagblad reports on Friday, quoting sources in The Hague.

The cabinet is due to decide on Wellink’s replacement later today, the paper says.
The cabinet is known to be keen to bring in an outsider in order to shake up the central bank and change the corporate culture. This means neither favourite, Kees van Dijkhuizen (CFO of merchant bank NIBC) or central bank board member Lex Hoogduin, will get the job, the paper says.
