Government to reduce office space by 40%, saving €90m

The government is to divest 40% of its office space by 2016, with foreign affairs, social affairs, and infrastructure and environment all losing their independent offices.

The vacant office accommodation will be sold and rental contracts cancelled as they expire, the cabinet said in a statement on Monday.
The downsizing will generate annual savings of €90m.
