Body of Mariska Mast exhumed

The body of Mariska Mast, the 23-year-old who died in suspicious circumstances while holidaying in Honduras in 2008, was exhumed in early March at the request of her family and Dutch crime reporter Peter R de Vries, tv broadcaster SBS6 said on Thursday.

It is highly unusual for a body to be exhumed so long after burial, the broadcaster said. If there is an exhumation, this is normally at the request of the police.
Mast’s body has undergone a new biopsy, carried out by the Belgian forensic pathologist Werner Jacobs.
SBS6 did not reveal his findings, but it does broadcast De Vries’ tv programme.
De Vries was arrested by Australian police in August 2010 after confronting a man he suspects of having murdered Mast. He was later freed.
