Belgian writer wins Libris prize, making it three in a row

Belgian writer Yves Petry has won this year’s €50,000 Libris literature prize for his novel De maagd Marino (the virgin Marino).

The jury described the book, based on the true story of a German man who killed and ate a willing victim, as an ‘intriguing masterpiece’.
It is the third year in a row the prize has gone to a Belgian writer. The other five nominees were all Dutch.
