Van der Sloot stabbing story made up, says lawyer
A report in Panorama magazine claiming Joran van der Sloot had been involved in several stabbing incidents in jail in Peru was plucked out of thin air, his lawyer Máximo Altez says in Thursday’s Telegraaf.
‘I have checked this information with the prison director and it has been completely invented,’ the lawyer said.
In fact, Van der Sloot, charged with the murder of a young Peruvian woman last year, wants to turn his life around and has begun going to church, Altez said.
Van der Slot is also suspected of involvement in the disappearance of American teenager Natalee Holloway on the Caribbean island of Aruba in 2006.
