Sharp increase expected in single-person households
The Netherlands will have 8.4 million households in 2060, of which 44% will be made up of people living on their own, according to new forecasts from the national statistics office CBS.
By 2050, the Netherlands will have 3.7 million single person households, up one million on the present total. Around half will be made up of elderly people, the CBS said.
