‘More help for Dutch nationals facing death penalty’
The Netherlands is to become more proactive in helping Dutch nationals jailed in countries where they could face the death penalty, foreign affairs minister Uri Rosenthal is quoted as saying in the Telegraaf.
The news follows the execution of Dutch Iranian woman Zahra Bahrami earlier this year.
Some 2,500 Dutch nationals are being held in foreign prisons, of whom around 500 are in countries with the death penalty.
