Max van der Stoel dies
Labour politician and human rights campaigner Max van der Stoel has died at the age of 86.
Van der Stoel was twice foreign minister and came to international prominence with his support for the dissident movements in Greece and Czechoslovakia.
Between 1991 and 1999 he was the UN’s special representative for human rights in Iraq.
