Dual role for returning football icon Johan Cruijff at Ajax

Football icon Johan Cruijff is poised to return to Amsterdam club Ajax as a member of both the management and supervisory board.

The club’s members’ council voted unanimously in favour of a dual role for Cruijff, 64, at a meeting on Tuesday night.
‘We have to observe a number of formalities. But Johan has said he is willing to sit on both the management and supervisory board. He will focus on developing the club’s technical side,’ said council chairman Rob Been after the meeting.
Ajax’s management and supervisory board and general director are all standing down after refusing to implement a plan to improve technical standards at the club drawn up by Cruijff.
A special committee has been set up to identify new members for both the management and supervisory boards.
