Cruijff calls for former Ajax stars to get involved in club revolutionTuesday 16 November 2010 Ajax’s general manager Rik van den Boog says he welcomes suggestions that famous former Ajax players should get involved in the club via its members’ board. 'It would be great if we could do this to get in touch with those who built up the club,’ he told Ajax’s own tv station. On Monday, former Ajax player John Cruijff used a newspaper column to call for a ‘revolution’ at Ajax to get the club back on track. And he called on former Ajax players to put themselves forward for the board. Eight of the 24 places are up for grabs and members will vote on the board’s new make-up on December 14. Stars Marco van Basten, Frank Rijkaard, Marc Overmars, Keje Molenaar, Tscheu La Ling, Peter Boeve and Edo Ophof are seven suitable candidates, Cruijff said. Ophof has already told the Telegraaf he is willing 'to get stuck in' and Molenaar has said he will stand. Overmars and Boeve are considering it, the paper says. The members’ board has the power to name and fire executive board members. Two weeks ago Cruijff called for the entire executive board to be sacked. Season Ajax has lost its last two league games and is now six points behind the leaders PSV. The club is also struggling in European competition. However, the Financieele Dagblad points out that investors do not believe in Cruijff’s ‘velvet revolution’ plan. Ajax shares, which have been traded in Amsterdam since 1998, are currently at €6.25, their lowest level this year. © DutchNews.nl

What is Cruijff going to do, is he joining to? He is "famous" and a former player of Ajax!! Or is he ,just as he normally does, giving "advise" from the sideline and not getting involved himself?
