‘Care home hygiene leaves a lot to be desired’

Hygiene standards in 15 out of 37 nursing homes visited by the consumers association experts were considered unacceptable, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.


Sticky floors, a smell of urine and staff who did not wash their hands were among the most common complaints. But in one instance, the experts came across bedpans being cleaned in the same room as freezers used to store bread, the paper says.
