Royal party arrives in Oman for ‘private dinner’
Queen Beatrix, prince Willem-Alexander and princess Máxima arrived at Masqat airport in Oman on Tuesday afternoon and were welcomed by vice premier Fahd bin Mahmoud al Said and culture minister Haitham bin Tarik al Said.
After a short ceremony, the party travelled to the royal palace Bait al Barak, just outside Masqat, where the Dutch royals will join sultan Qaboos at a private dinner.
The original state visit to Oman was cancelled because of unrest in the country.
Prime minister Mark Rutte is due to face MPs criticism of the trip later on Tuesday.
