Replacing staff with temps can be okay, says minister
Employers are sometimes justified in sacking permanent staff and replacing them with people on flexible contracts, news agency ANP quotes social affairs minister Henk Kamp as saying.
Earlier this year unions had asked the minister to take action against the practice.
But Kemp, who plans to publish new redundancy guidelines in May, said the UWV benefits agency can agree to such a move if employers prove it is justified by ‘corporate efficiency’ considerations.
The UWV is required to approve most redundancy requests.
