Pro-animal party loses court case
The animal rights party PvdD lost its court case on Monday evening to force broadcaster Nos to include it in the final televised debate before Wednesday’s provincial elections.
Amsterdam district court ruled that although the importance for the PvdD of taking part was undeniable, it was not unlawful for the Nos not to invite the party to contribute, reports the Volkskrant.
The debate will be televised on Tuesday evening when the leaders of the eight largest parties in parliament will take part. Ten parties are represented in the lower house, meaning just the PvdD and fundamentalist Christian SGP, each with two seats, have been excluded.
