Defence minister in firing line
MPs will today vote on a motion of disapproval against defence minister Hans Hillen over his handling of problems at a navy base in Den Helder.
Opposition MPs are angry that the minister failed to inform them fully about problems at the base. He said later he had not been briefed by his department.
A motion of disapproval is not as serious as a motion of no-confidence. It is the second time the new government has been subject to a disapproval vote.
In January, the SP also brought such a motion against social affairs minister Henk Kamp for his policy on pensions but that failed to win majority support.
