Queen Beatrix made the front pages of the Oman English-language newspapers on Tuesday ahead of her controversial short visit to the Gulf state.

The Muscat Daily ran the headline ‘Queen Beatrix in Muscat today’ across its full width against an orange background.
The formal state visit was cancelled last week because of anti-government protests but it emerged later the private dinner would go ahead. Many MPs are angry about the decision.
The queen is in Oman for a private dinner with sultan Qaboos bin Said on Tuesday evening. She is accompanied by prince Willem-Alexander and princess Máxima.
