Amsterdam creche abuse case: minor suspect commits suicide
A 50-year-old man arrested in connection with the Amsterdam daycare child abuse case has killed himself a week after his release from custody, his lawyer told a television show on Monday night
The man, who was 50, was arrested in February after he was traced via the computer network operated by chief suspect Robert Mikelsons .
The man was arrested on attempted child abuse charges but released because there were not enough grounds to hold him.
Mikelsons and his partner Richard van Olffen will appear in court for the first time next week for a procedural hearing.
Mikelsons, a crèche worker, is accused of abusing up to 83 young children, producing and distributing child pornography.
The case will be heard at the Osdorp court known as the bunker because of its heavy security.
A third man at the centre of the allegations was released from custody at the beginning of this month. He is not suspected of directly molesting children.
