A majority of MPs, including the government’s alliance partner PVV, are against cabinet plans to fine the under-16s caught with alcohol or who are found to have been drinking, Nos television reports.

Health minister Edith Schippers announced last week that the cabinet plans to introduce the fines in an effort to reduce teenage drinking.
But MPs said they want the government to target shops which sell teenagers drink instead.
