Palestinian leader Abbas to visit the Netherlands later this year

Palestinian president Mahmoud Abbas is to visit the Netherlands later this year, foreign minister Uri Rosenthal has confirmed.

Abbas had been scheduled to visit last June but the trip was cancelled following the collapse of the government.
‘He was pleased to accept the invitation,’ Rosenthal, who is on a visit to the Middle East, said.
It is important to receive ‘one of the biggest players’ in the region, Rosenthal said, particularly in light of the need to strengthen the involvement of the Palestinian Authority in ending the Israel Palestine conflict.
Wilders
Rosenthal said he had not discussed the invitation with Geert Wilders, leader of the anti-Islam PVV and pro-Israel campaigner.
The PVV supports the minority government on economic policy but not foreign affairs. Wilders told reporters he hoped the visit would not go ahead and that it would be a waste of time.
