More female start-ups

The number of women starting their own companies grew 35% in 2009, compared with 25% in 2000, according to research carried out for the economic affairs ministry.

However, the report, quoted in the Financieele Dagblad, points out that women still only make up a third of the total because the number of start-ups by men grew slightly faster.
Most women choose to work in the service sectors such as the care industry, the report says.
