Foreign surrogacy still popular
Several dozen children in the Netherlands were born to a foreign surrogate mother, despite the country’s official opposition to commercial surrogacy, according to a report on television current affairs show Nieuwsuur.
While the US used to be the most popular choice for a surrogate, India and Ukraine are also becoming more popular options, the report said.
Full surrogacy, using sperm and eggs from the parental hopefuls, costs up to €120,000 in the US, €12,000 in India and €25,000 in Ukraine, the show said.
