Football club NAC Breda in financial trouble

Breda football club NAC is in severe financial trouble and will have to make drastic cuts to ensure its survival, the Telegraaf reports on Thursday.

‘NAC’s future as a professional football organisation is at stake if we do not have a major clear out. At the moment, we cannot pay our bills,’ chairman Bas van Bavel told the paper.
NAC, currently 11th in the league, has been hit by expensive player fees and the rebuilding of its stadium which is severely over budget. Last season, the club posted a loss of €4.2m on a budget of €15m.
Last year, 12 of the Netherlands’ 37 professional football clubs were in such poor financial state they were put under the supervision of the Dutch football association
