Debate needed on police quotas

The Socialist Party will on Tuesday request an emergency debate on the question of police quotas for fines. The party says the practice is still continuing in police region IJsselland, reports news agency ANP.

Justice minister Ivo Opstelten wrote to police chiefs in November 2010 telling them to stop requiring officers to meet quotas for fines. Officers who did not meet the quota could face salary cuts.
The Socialist Party says the chief police constable of IJsselland should be sacked for continuing the quota system. ‘How can Opstelten move to a national police force if he doesn’t deal with this?’ said MP Ronald van Raak.
