Criminal link legislation extended to cover boxing, fireworks
Justice minister Ivo Opstelten announced on Monday evening that slot machines arcades, boxing galas and firework imports are to fall under the controversial Bibob law.
The law gives local councils the right to refuse licences and permits to organisations and businesses they suspect of having criminal links. It already applies to the construction and hospitality industries, cannabis cafes and brothels.
If adopted by parliament, the law will also apply to third parties involved in government and council property transactions.
